Insomniac Games has revealed that they are not against the idea of a Venom spin-off game if the fans want one.

Insomniac Games Teases Venom Spin-off Game If Fans Want It
Speaking with Insider, Jon Paquette said that Insomniac Games isn’t ready to think about a new game just yet, but they will wait and see how fans react to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 first.
So, this is what we’re doing. We’re focused on Spider-Man 2 and what we’re going to do is we’re going to wait to see how the fans react.
We will listen to the fans and ask ourselves, “Okay, what do the fans really want?”
We’ll talk about it after we’ve all had time to sleep and take a vacation.

Paquette also added that Insomniac Games drew inspiration from the history of the Venom comic book which could serve as inspiration for a Venom-centered story.
I remember as a kid being in my friend’s bedroom reading Secret Wars and seeing the origin of the black costume. From there we moved on to the crazy Knull and Klyntar stuff.
There’s such a rich universe out there and there’s a lot of things that comic artists have done. We try to take all that, then forget about it and think about what’s best for our characters and our franchises.
