CD Projekt Red: The Witcher Remake Will be Open World Game

In its Q3 2022 financial report, CD Projekt Red briefly mentioned its announcement of The Witcher Remake by saying that the project will be a “story-driven, single-player open world RPG“.

Since the original version was not open world, there is still speculation whether The Witcher Remake will resemble the 2007 version or something closer to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

The Witcher remake will use the Unreal Engine 5 and be developed by Fool’s Theory, which will feature veterans of the Witcher series. CD Projekt Red will provide complete creative oversight. The remake was previously announced by CD Projekt Red under the codename “Canis Majoris”.
