CDPR wants Cyberpunk 2077 sequel to go through an “evolution” like The Witcher
Speaking with PC Gamer, Igor Sarzyński compared the growth between The Witcher and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings to CD PROJEKT RED’s hopes for the Cyberpunk 2077 franchise.
“Consider The Witcher games and how much each series changes. We wanted a similar evolution here,” narrative director Sarzyński told PC Gamer. “Cyberpunk 2077 is our first venture into a futuristic science fiction world with tons of new gameplay mechanics, narrative tone, themes, and art direction.”
Sarzyński adds, “Some things worked almost out of the box, like the art, city design, music, interactive scene system, and play style. Other aspects took more time to improve, such as character development, NPC interactivity, and optimization.”
“It’s natural; it’s impossible to get everything done on the first try. Now with all the game elements iterated and working well, we’ll focus on connecting them even more tightly and creating a coherent and well-rounded immersive experience.”
Project Orion is currently led by the expansion director of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, Gabe Amatangelo.
