In the “Fallout Retrospective” video series uploaded by Bethesda, Todd Howard explains how Fallout: New Vegas became what it is today.

Fallout 3 came out and it was a really, really big hit for the company and they were like, ‘Okay, so what’s next?’, and I was like, ‘Well we’re working on Skyrim, so it’s a big hit. [kemudian] it was going to be Fallout 4, and there was a push like… ‘We should do a big expansion pack or something like that. Is there a company we can have to do it?’

We knew the people at Obsidian and there was kind [pemikiran bahwa]of only one group that we really wanted to do this with. It actually started out as a big expansion pack for Fallout 3 and I felt very strongly it should be its own game.

A decade on, Microsoft now owns Obsidian Entertainment and Bethesda Game Studios. Surely fans’ dreams of a sequel to Fallout: New Vegas could become a reality.

In October 2022, Obsidian Entertainment CEO Feargus Urquhart said that the studio is not working on a Fallout game at the moment, but there is “no question” if they get the chance.

Now, Obsidian Entertainment will release its new IP called Pentiment. The game will be released on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC (Steam, Microsoft Store) on November 15, 2022.
