Valve recently announced that they will nobly rework the Battle Pass system that has been inherent in DOTA 2. According to him, this new system will come with a variety of interesting features and different content than before.
You should note that the Battle Pass has not disappeared and is still there, albeit in a different form. Valve also promises that their focus will be more on events and players will be involved in them.
