The Witcher Remake Will Use Unreal Engine 5
CD Projekt Red and Fool’s Theory have announced The Witcher Remake, a remake of the original The Witcher remade with Unreal Engine 5. The remake is currently in the early stages of development at Fool’s Theory, where veterans from The Witcher franchise are involved. CD Projekt Red will provide full creative oversight and the remake was also previously teased by CD Projekt Red under the codename “Canis Majoris“.
CD Projekt Red noted that despite announcing The Witcher Remake today, the game is still in the early stages of development. “We would like to ask for your patience as it will be a while until we start talking about this project in detail,” said CD Projekt Red.
The Witcher is where it all started for us, for CD Projekt RED. It was the first game we made and it was a big moment for us then. Come back to this place and remake this game so that the next generation of gamers can have an equally great, if not greater, experience.
Collaborating with Fool’s Theory on this project is equally exciting, as some of the people there have previously been involved in The Witcher games. They know the source material well, they know how many gamers are waiting for this remake to happen, and they know how to make an amazing and ambitious game. While it will take some time before we’re ready to share more about and from the game, I know it will be worth the wait.
