The Super Mario Bros. Movie has made 500 million USD, making it the highest-grossing video game adaptation of all time.

According to IGN, the movie has made 508.7 million USD worldwide and 260.3 million USD in North America. The Super Mario Bros. Movie is also the highest-grossing movie of 2023 so far, passing Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

This Nintendo and Illumination-produced movie has passed other video game adaptations such as Pokémon Detective Pikachu, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and World of Warcraft.

In comparison, Pokémon Detective Pikachu earned 161 million USD worldwide in its opening weekend. In 2022, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was the highest-grossing video game movie as it earned 331 million USD.
