The Sims 5 Will be Free-to-Play Game?

According to the job description found by Sims Community before it was officially pulled, Maxis is currently recruiting a Head of Marketplace & Monetization for Project Rene.

Successful candidates who fit the description will “determine the price of all content in this free-to-play game”.

In addition, the candidate will also “own Project Rene’s in-game content and UGC marketplace (free and paid), and manage the data-centric player purchase journey – maximizing value to players, optimizing player spending patterns, and minimizing player churn”.

The Project Rene announcement includes a brief look at some of the creation tools players can use when they get the game. The existence of Project Rene also coincides with the launch of The Sims 4 which became a free-to-play game after 8 years of launch.
