No Longer Garena, League of Legends, and Teamfight Tactics SEA Will Be Published by Riot Games

Riot Games has announced that the Southeast Asian (SEA) versions of League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics will be published by Riot Games going forward.

This information was announced by Riot Games via their social media. If you’re interested in Riot Games’ games, you can check out our other articles here.

League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics SEA Will be Published by Riot Games

Riot Games announced that it will begin self-publishing League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics across Southeast Asia (SEA) in January 2023 after its 12-year partnership with Garena ends.

According to Riot Games, this will allow them to “ensure players in Southeast Asia can get the same League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics experience as players who play our games around the world”.

Another reason why this move is happening is that Riot Games is now expanding its studio into a multi-game studio, where it will continue to focus on catering to more players around the world, especially in the Asia-Pacific region.

Influence for League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics Players

Riot Games stated that players need to transition their accounts from Garena to Riot Games. As a courtesy from Riot Games, once players transition their accounts, they will receive a series of in-game gifts as rewards.

“Players will also have access to Riot publishing services such as localization, billing, along with player support that will help improve the player experience in impactful ways,” Riot Games wrote.

Riot Games then added that the account migration process will be opened to all Southeast Asian players on 18 November 2022. The migration account page can be accessed here.

What about players who play League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics in Europe, Japan, and North America? According to Riot Games, players can transfer their accounts from these regions to Southeast Asia via a one-way transfer. This means that accounts from other regions can be transferred to Southeast Asia, but cannot be transferred again once completed.

The other exciting news here is that League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics players in Southeast Asia can use the same payment methods currently available for Valorant.
