Square Enix president Takashi Kiryu has said that the company will be “aggressive in applying” AI in its future development and publishing efforts.

Takashi Kiryu: Square Enix will be Aggressive in Implementing AI
In his 2024 new year letter, Takashi Kiryu explained the new initiatives he has undertaken since taking over as president of Square Enix.
Kiryu added that Square Enix is expanding knowledge sharing with the aim of standardizing its processes and “improving our efficiency,” while encouraging closer collaboration between the content and publishing teams.
Interestingly, Kiryu’s ambitions also include the field of artificial intelligence (AI): “We also intend to be aggressive in applying AI and other cutting-edge technologies to our content development and publishing functions.”
Kiryu then added, “In the short term, our goal is to increase development productivity and achieve greater sophistication in our marketing efforts. In the long term, we hope to utilize the technology to create new forms of content for consumers, as we believe that technological innovation is a business opportunity.”
At the beginning of the letter, Kiryu talks about the impact of generative AI such as ChatGPT, noting that the technology is rapidly expanding to include images, videos, and music.
“I believe that generative AI has the potential not only to reshape what we create, but also to fundamentally change the processes we create, including programming,” Kiryu wrote.
