Sam Barlow has recently revealed that Silent Hill 2 Remake is a “poisoned chalice” for Bloober Team.

Sam Barlow: Silent Hill 2 remake is a poisoned grail for Bloober Team
Speaking with PCGamesN, Sam Barlow was asked about some of Konami’s upcoming Silent Hill projects. Barlow replied that he doesn’t actually envy Bloober Team, the studio working on the Silent Hill 2 Remake, but he is just concerned and hopes Bloober Team can be successful with their remake.
Sam Barlow, best known for directing and writing Her Story, Telling Lies, and IMMORTALITY, previously wrote and designed Silent Hill: Origins and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.
Personally, I was less than excited to play the remaster. It’s also like the biggest cup of poison in video games by doing a Silent Hill 2 remaster. I mean, good luck to them because I don’t know how you can do it without pissing people off.

Barlow also said that he is more positive about Konami’s plans for another Silent Hill game and the potential breadth of stories that can be told within the Silent Hill world.
My preferred version of Silent Hill – which they seem to be pushing – is ‘we’re using this as a platform to have a variety of interesting psychological horror games,’ right? Actually, can we see that range of gameplay? You know, Twilight Zone and those kinds of anthologies give you an idea of what you’re getting into, but you’re also excited to see the different ways that can be explored.

In March 2023, Bloober Team revealed that development of Silent Hill 2 Remake was “almost” complete.
Silent Hill 2 Remake will be released for PS5 and PC (Steam). The game does not have a release date yet.
