Rockstar confirms GTA VI leaks, production won’t be interrupted

During this week Rockstar Games has become a hot topic of conversation among gamers. The topic comes from the leak of 90 GTA VI gameplay videos, which are said to be the Early-Build of the game. Shortly after the leak spread across various platforms, Rockstar Games finally confirmed the GTA VI leak. But what was their reaction to the leaker’s actions? Let’s keep up with the latest gaming news.

A leaker named Teapotuberhacker has reportedly managed to post over 90 GTA VI gameplay videos on the GTAForum page (Opens in a new tab). He claims that this 3GB leak was taken by him through a hacking operation. There are a lot of surprising details including the playable female character and the city setting of Vice City. From such a large scale, the leak is inevitably authentic.

GTA VI Leak Confirmed by Rockstar Games

As such, Rockstar Games had no choice but to directly confirm that this GTA VI leak was “absolutely original.” This is evidenced by Take-Two Interactive’s action to start issuing DMCA warnings to the spreaders, and Rockstar’s open letter via its Twitter account. As you’d expect, Rockstar Games was visibly upset with the extent of the leaks that have surfaced over the past few days.

In this letter, Rockstar said “early build footage has been illegally taken from the system through third-party person network intrusion hacking.” Further, “We are extremely disappointed to have any details of our next game shared with you all this way. Our work on the next Grand Theft Auto game will continue as planned and we remain as committed as ever to delivering an experience to you, our players, that truly exceeds your expectations.”

Studio Disappointed That GTA Couldn’t Be Introduced the Way It Should Have Been

Rockstar Games promises to provide the latest updates on the development process. They will also give a “real introduction” to the latest Grand Theft Auto in the right time. The studio would like to thank all fans for their continued support during this situation. Fans hope that the development of GTA VI goes smoothly and ends as expected.

In response to Sunday’s GTA VI leak, TLOU II Creative Director Neil Druckmann gave a message: “To my fellow devs out there affected by the latest leak, know that while it feels overwhelming right now, it’ll pass. One day we’ll be playing your game, appreciating your craft, and the leaks will be relegated to a footnote on a Wikipedia page. Keep pushing. Keep making art.”
