Marvel Games Are Not Connected Like the MCU

Speaking with GamesIndustry.biz, Bill Rosemann revealed that there are no plans for Marvel games to form a connected world like the MCU. This statement comes after the announcement of the Iron Man game from Electronic Arts (EA) and Motive Studio.

This world is amazing, very intimate, and accepting of the multiverse. We have all these different realities. Now they are all real and we want to give everyone the freedom to tell their stories.

We don’t want to say, ‘You can’t blow up the moon, because the games here by other studios need the moon’. We want to give everyone the freedom and a clear path to tell their story.

Rosemann noted that each team was allowed to build their superhero in the Marvel game from the ground up with familiar elements.

Every decision made about their [tim Motive] Marvel universe, their Tony Stark, their Iron Man… they built it from the ground up. But it’s built with what we call Marvel building blocks.

When you play this game, it may not be the Iron Man story you’ve experienced before, but there will be many similar ones. What do you expect in a Marvel story? There are many things, there are institutions, certain companies, groups… I don’t want to say what is and isn’t in this game, but for example, there is S.H.I.E.L.D, Hydra, there is the Daily Bugle, there are different countries that exist.

These are the building blocks that make up the Marvel universe. They make it feel like a real Marvel story. Now with that [Motive akan] tells the story and we will give them that freedom.

So, don’t expect to see the stories of each Marvel game cross over with each other.
