Square Enix recently revealed that Luminous Productions will be joining the company on May 1, 2023.

Luminous Productions Joins Square Enix, Why?
Square Enix Holdings revealed that it will merge Luminous Productions, the development studio behind Final Fantasy XV and Forspoken, with Square Enix Corporation on May 1, 2023.
This merger is part of [Square Enix Holdings]’s efforts to further enhance the competitive capabilities of the [Square Enix] Group’s development studios, a goal set forth in the current medium-term business strategy.
[Square Enix Corporation] has developed many AAA high-definition games and owns intellectual property and content. Meanwhile, [Luminous Productions] is equipped with not only AAA game development capabilities, but also technical expertise in areas such as game engine development.
The merger of these two entities will further enhance the [Square Enix] Group’s ability to develop [high definition] games.

Square Enix Holdings’ statement may be confusing to many, but this is essentially the end of Luminous Productions. In short, Luminous Productions will be reabsorbed and existing employees will be reallocated to other projects within Square Enix.
For now, the fate of Luminous Engine and the affected employees is unknown. Below is the official statement from Luminous Productions:

Between now and then, we will remain focused on Forspoken. We are working on the previously announced patches to improve the overall performance of the game (we will provide an update soon) and the downloadable content, “In Tanta We Trust”, is on track for release this summer.
