“Like a Dragon: Ishin!” or “Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin!” is an action-adventure game developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and published by SEGA for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. It is a spin-off of the Like a Dragon series, commonly known in the English series as Yakuza.
Initially, Like a Dragon: Ishin! was only released in February 2014 exclusively in Japan. However, the Unreal Engine 4-developed remake version is now available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC gaming platforms. Unlike the original version, the remake version of Like a Dragon: Ishin! has been released globally and has received very positive reviews from players.
Like a Dragon: Ishin! has been completely remade and redesigned, but still delivers a very exciting storyline set in the late Edo period in Japan.
The game’s storyline combined with Unreal Engine 4 graphics provides both an experience and a sense of nostalgia for gamers who have played it in the past.
There are many popular characters from actual Japanese historical figures in Like a Dragon: Ishin! They are shown with their real names, including Takechi Hanpeita, Yoshida Toyo, Okada Izo, Nakaoka Shintaro, Kondo Isami, and many more.
Like a Dragon: Ishin! features an in-depth battle system where there are many fighting styles to choose from, ranging from Slash, Dance, Shoot to Punch.
Part of the player’s job as a Shinsengumi captain in this game is to lead the team in maximizing its abilities by recruiting better Trooper Cards. So, to become a legendary samurai who is strong in defeating various opponents, players must also understand the abilities of Troopers, how to recruit Troopers, and which cards are good for each fighting style in the game.
In addition to presenting a remake of existing cool features, Like a Dragon: Ishin! will bring new experiences to players through newly designed weaponry as well as a challenging new Giant Boss.
Last but not least, players of Like a Dragon: Ishin! can also sing karaoke with the girls. In fact, to promote this game set in the Edo period in the Asian region, SEGA appointed the beautiful Japanese artists Yui Hatano, Yuna Ogura, and Kana Momonogi as brand ambassadors.
Like a Dragon: Ishin! is already available on PC via Steam.
