On May 11, 2023, Ed Boon, co-creator of the Mortal Kombat franchise, uploaded a mysterious video on Twitter with the hashtag #MortalKombat.

Many people suspect that the video is a teaser of the new Mortal Kombat game and could be a reboot of the original Mortal Kombat.

Shortly after, billbil-kun revealed the name of the game on Twitter and seemed to hint that the new Mortal Kombat title will be a reboot of the franchise.

According to information obtained by billbil-kun, the name of the game is Mortal Kombat 1, and is scheduled to be released on PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. This information was also confirmed by Windows Central.

Billbil-kun also lists the retail price for each version of the game:

  • Standard Edition = $69.99 for PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S; $59.99 for Nintendo Switch.
  • Premium Edition = $109,99.
  • Kollector’s Edition = $249,99 khusus PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.

Windows Central adds that Mortal Kombat 1 is targeting a release month of September 2023, although those plans may change.

They also heard that the game’s Character Pass will feature various IPs owned by Warner Bros., including Peacemaker from DC Universe and Homelander from The Boys.

Windows Central expects the Mortal Kombat 1 announcement to come in the next few weeks.
