Rumour: Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi Reboot Released in 2027

Recent reports have revealed that the rebooted versions of Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi are likely to be released in 2027.

Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi Reboot Released in 2027?

On X, @MbKKssTBhz5 claims that Jet Set Radio announced at The Game Awards 2023 is not a remake and the game will release in 2027. The rebooted version of Jet Set Radio will also have new story and characters with the arrival of old characters.

@MbKssTBhz5 then clarified that Jet Set Radio has 2 versions of the game, a reboot and a remake. The reboot version was revealed by SEGA at The Game Awards 2023, using Unreal Engine, and will not be the same as the original game.

Additionally, @MbKssTBhz5 added that Crazy Taxi will also get a reboot and remake version, where the reboot version will be released in 2027.

@MbKssTBhz5 notes that all of SEGA’s classic games announced at The Game Awards 2023 will have live service elements and some will indeed be live service games. All of these games are also already planned for release on Nintendo’s new console.

  • When asked if Virtua Fighter will be getting a reboot, @MbKKssTBhz5 answered yes and noted that this rebooted version is not being developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and will be developed by the Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown team.
  • When asked about Super Monkey Ball, @MbKssTBhz5 replied that there is a game from the franchise coming to Apple Arcade.

In April 2022, Bloomberg reported that SEGA was developing “big-budget reboots” of Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio.

In December 2023, SEGA officially announced the return of the following classic franchises:

  • Crazy Taxi
  • Golden Axe
  • Jet Set Radio
  • Shinobi
  • Streets of Rage

In January 2024, Insider Gaming claimed that 10 classic SEGA games have been approved for development during the 2020-2021 period. Of these 10 games, 5 of them have already been announced at The Game Awards 2023. The other 3 games are:

  • Panzer Dragoon
  • Neon Genesis Evangelion
  • Sakura Taisen

Insider Gaming said that there is a high possibility that the number of 10 games approved by SEGA at that time will start to increase again.

Recently, @MbKKssTBhz5 has claimed some of the following information:

  • ATLUS is currently working on several mobile titles for the Netflix platform, with one of those titles relating to Shin Megami Tensei V.
  • The development of Persona ASA entitled “Persona Grand Stage” was canceled to focus on Persona 5: The Phantom X. Persona ASA was originally planned for release to mobile and PC in 2024.
  • SEGA is developing a Sonic spin-off game in the style of Fall Guys will be released to mobile in 2024. Other than that, there are also lists of 2 other Sonic games coming to Netflix and Apple Arcade platforms, namely Sonic Chao Guardians and a sports-themed Sonic game.
  • ATLUS is developing Nintendo’s new console versions for Persona 3 Reload and Metaphor: ReFantazio.
  • The existence of The Answer DLC for Persona 3 Reload. This claim was later supported by the discovery of evidence of The Answer DLC in the Persona 3 Reload game files.
  • ATLUS has Persona 1 Remake, Persona 2 Remake, and Persona 4 Remake projects, but not all of them will have Persona 3 Reload style. In addition, there is the PS2 game ATLUS that will get a remastered version. Interestingly, ATLUS is also rumored to have a remastered game of the Shin Megami Tensei franchise. Whether it is related to the PS2 game in question is still unknown.
