Jennifer Svedberg-Yen: Sandfall Interactive to Start Thinking About DLC for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
May 14, 2025 – Speaking to The Gamer, lead writer Jennifer Svedberg-Yen was asked about the future of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 based on the game’s ending.
We’re actually very focused on squashing bugs,” Svedberg-Yen replied. “We didn’t expect such a good reception and we want to maintain this momentum, so we are very focused on the current user experience.
Svedberg-Yen continued, “When the dust settles, we will start thinking about DLC, but it probably won’t happen for a while.”
Svedberg-Yen was also asked about what she still wants to explore in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
“It’s hard to pick just one because I want to explore everything. I love worldbuilding. I could do this all day. I could go in any direction, past, future, sideways, Esquie and Francois’s adventure, it could go in all different directions,” Svedberg-Yen said.
“We have a complete and detailed Lumiere history, for all the expeditions, social upheaval, soft coups. We use it as material to put into various elements to make the world feel alive and to make the characters feel like they have a real past.”
Svedberg-Yen added, “For Gustav, I wrote four generations of family history for him and how that ties into the fact that his family is one of the founding families of Lumiere. So for me, there’s a lot we’ve actually done, but there are still a lot of unanswered questions.”
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is available on PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store). The game is also available on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.
