GeekWire reported that Xbox co-founder, J Allard, has joined Amazon as vice president in the devices and services team.
Amazon told GeekWire that Allard will report to former Microsoft CPO Panos Panay, who joined Amazon in 2023 to lead the devices and services team.
Amazon’s devices and services division is part of Amazon’s business responsible for the Alexa voice assistant, Echo devices, Ring, Kindle, Fire TV, and Luna cloud services.
Allard also revealed to The Verge that it’s still “too early to say anything” about what he’ll be working on besides “new ideas”.
As the Chief Experience Officer and Chief Technology Officer in Microsoft’s Entertainment & Devices division from 1991 to 2010, Allard helped found Xbox, Xbox Live, Xbox Live Arcade, and Xbox 360.
