In a separate statement, Kamiya said:
As announced on PlatinumGames’ official X account, I will be leaving PlatinumGames on October 12, 2023. This comes after much deliberation based on my own convictions and was by no means an easy decision to make.
However, I feel that this result is the best. I will continue to work in the Hideki Kamiya way. I hope you will continue to look forward to it.
Hideki Kamiya
Kamiya is a former Capcom employee and was co-founder of Seeds, Inc. along with Shinji Mikami and Atsushi Inaba before the studio was renamed PlatinumGames in May 2008.
Kamiya went on to become PlatinumGames’ vice president along with Inaba before Inaba became the studio’s CEO in 2021, but Shinji Mikami left the studio early to found Tango Gameworks.
Kamiya is best known for developing Resident Evil 2 and creating the Devil May Cry franchise at Capcom, before developing the Bayonetta franchise at PlatinumGames.
