Rockstar Games has announced that Grand Theft Auto VI will release on consoles in 2025.

Grand Theft Auto VI Releases in 2025
Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-filled streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest and most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto franchise.
“Grand Theft Auto VI continues our efforts to push the boundaries of what’s possible in highly immersive, story-driven open-world experiences,” Rockstar Games founder Sam Houser said in a press release. “We’re excited to share this new vision with players everywhere.”
Grand Theft Auto VI will release on PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S in 2025. Since there is no PC version announcement, we can be sure Rockstar Games will go through the same cycle as their previous games.
In July 2022, Bloomberg reported that Grand Theft Auto VI has the internal name “Project Americas” and will have a pair of main protagonists like the Bonnie and Clyde story.
Unlike the previous game, Bloomberg also reported that Rockstar Games is now careful not to “nudge” marginalized groups with jokes in Grand Theft Auto VI.
According to Bloomberg, the initial plan for Grand Theft Auto VI was to have a wider world than any Grand Theft Auto game. The initial design of the game they planned to include both North and South American map models. However, the main map of Grand Theft Auto VI has been cut down to a fictionalized version of Miami and its surrounding areas.
According to Bloomberg, Rockstar Games’ plan now is to “update Grand Theft Auto VI over time, adding new missions and cities regularly, and also easing the work crisis during the game’s final months of development”.
Nonetheless, the world of Grand Theft Auto VI will have many more interior locations than previous Grand Theft Auto games.
