Far Cry 7’s Story Isn’t Linear and about Abduction

Insider Gaming reports that the alleged Far Cry 7 leak from 4chan that called it “Far Cry: Rise” and that it will take place on a fictitious tropical island called Kimsan is completely inaccurate.

According to Insider Gaming, Project Blackbird (the internal name of Far Cry 7) is being worked on by Ubisoft Montréal with the Snowdrop Engine and is scheduled to release in fall 2025.

Insider Gaming has also obtained the latest information that Far Cry 7 will have a non-linear story, with the story centered on saving the player’s kidnapped family.

Below is an overview of the story of Far Cry 7 obtained by Insider Gaming:

The plot of the game revolves around a wealthy family that has been kidnapped by a conspiracy group currently called the “Sons of Truth”. […] The premise of the campaign is for the player to rescue his entire family within a certain time frame.

Currently, the timer in Far Cry 7 stands at 72 hours, or 24 hours in real time, but the timer can be paused when players enter one of their shelters.

The non-linear story of Far Cry 7 also means family members do not need to be saved in order and some family members can be killed. The objective is to defeat the “Sons of Truth” and to complete the game 100%, the Player must rescue all family members safely.

To find the player’s family members, Far Cry 7 introduces new interrogation mechanics into the game […]. Sometimes enemies will provide information, sometimes they lie, keep quiet, or even run away sometimes.
