Destiny 2: The Final Shape Officially Delayed to June 2024
Bungie has announced that they are delaying Destiny 2: The Final Shape from February 28 to June 5, 2024. The expansion will release on PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store).
Below is the full message from Bungie regarding the delay:
“The Final Shape” is the culmination of the first ten years of Destiny storytelling and, for Guardians everywhere, countless hours spent together. We wanted to honor that journey, so we took the time we needed to present a bigger and bolder vision, one that we hope will be remembered and cherished for years to come.
Naturally, this change raises questions about our upcoming release calendar. Season of the Wish starts tomorrow and will last until the launch of “The Final Shape” in June. While most of the content and narrative for Season of the Wish will take place from late November through February as previously planned, the team is adding new content available to all players until the launch of The Final Shape.

In February, this will include new weekly progression-based missions called Wishes, and the launch of Moments of Triumph with unique rewards. Next, we’ll advance Guardian Games through March with a renewed focus on class vs class competition. Then, starting in April, we’ll bring a two-month content update available to everyone called “Destiny 2: Into the Light”, which will prepare players for their Guardian journey to become a Traveler. All of this is in addition to the ongoing efforts of our PvP Strike Team, including three new PvP maps that will launch in May.
We know you are eager to get your hands on “The Final Shape”. In this case, delays are no fun. For our part, we’re thrilled to have the extra time needed to realize our vision for “The Final Shape” for all of you. We can’t wait to share much more in April, including entirely new gameplay, to showcase the significant content additions currently in development.
Thank you for reading and following this journey with us.
