Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty Could Make PCs Explode?

Cyberpunk 2077 is a video game that’s had a rough launch. However, with the arrival of the first expansion called Phantom Liberty, CD Projekt Red fans are eagerly awaiting its release.

Cyberpunk 2077 was released in 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. However, players’ enthusiasm dropped within hours of its launch. Although not perfect, the PC version is considered the best, provided the system meets the necessary requirements. However, the situation is different for the PS4 and Xbox One versions.

During the Summer Game Fest, we got to see a lot of Phantom Liberty action which further built the hype for the expansion. Later at the Gamescom Opening Night Live event, ‘Update 2.0’ was announced to be launched alongside Phantom Liberty.

Update 2.0 will make enemies smarter in battle, as well as the AI of the Night City Police. Plus, there’s a new skill tree called Relic and some quality of life improvements. Best of all, this update is free for all Cyberpunk 2077 owners, whether you bought the expansion or not.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty Can Make PCs Explode, Must Check Cooler

With Phantom Liberty and Update 2.0 about to be released, it should be an exciting time for fans. However, a PC expert has issued a warning of a potential danger for those who download the update, which could cause damage to your computer.

As reported by DSOgaming, there is a Twitter user named Filip Pierściński, who also happens to be the scene’s lead programmer at CDPR. So if there’s anyone whose word you need to trust in this matter, it’s him.

Pierściński warned that due to the high demands of the upcoming expansions and updates, the GPU and CPU will be working hard. “Before the release of Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0 and Phantom Liberty, please check the condition of the cooling system on your PC,” he said.

Pierściński has given a warning that the CPU workload on 8 Core can reach very high levels, reaching 90%, potentially causing the PC to overheat. He advises his followers to check their systems thoroughly before performing updates and installations.

In related news, the sequel to CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 may not be as far away as we expected, and the sci-fi RPG has now exceeded half a million positive reviews on Steam.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty will be released on September 27 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
