CD Projekt Red uses Ai to replace late Polish actor’s voice in Cyberpunk 2077
Bloomberg reports that the late voice of Miłogost Reczek, a popular Polish voice actor who died in 2021, was reproduced by an AI algorithm for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty’s Polish version.
In a statement to Bloomberg, CD Projekt Red said that they had received permission from Reczek’s family to do this and considered replacing Reczek in the expansion and re-recording his dialog in the original game, but decided against it.
“We don’t like this approach,” said localization director at CD Projekt Red, Mikołaj Szwed. According to Szwed, Reczek is “one of the best Polish voice talents” and his performance in the game as Viktor Vektor is “outstanding”.
Instead, CD Projekt Red hired different voice actors to fill in the dialog for the role and then used Ukraine-based voice cloning software Respeecher to create an algorithm that would alter the dialog to sound like Reczek.
This way we can keep his appearance in the game and pay tribute to his outstanding performance as Viktor Vektor.

Szwed also said that Reczek’s sons were “very supportive” of CD Projekt Red’s choice.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty sudah tersedia di PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, dan PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG).
