CD Projekt Red Announces 5 New Projects, What Are They?

CD Projekt Red has announced 5 new projects: a new The Witcher game codenamed “Sirius” by The Molasses Flood, a new The Witcher trilogy by CD Projekt Red, a new The Witcher game codenamed “Canis Majoris” by a third party, a new Cyberpunk 2077 game codenamed “Orion” by CD Projekt Red’s new studio in Boston, and a new IP codenamed “Hadar” by CD Projekt Red.

Below are descriptions of the projects provided by CD Projekt Red:

Project Sirius

The new game The Molasses Flood codenamed Sirius is set in The Witcher universe and is being created with support from developer CD Projekt Red. This game will be different from our previous productions, in the sense that it is targeted at a wider audience. Alongside the single-player experience, gamers will be able to play with others, as Sirius will contain multiplayer.

Project Polaris

The other project codenamed Polaris is a game that opens a new The Witcher saga that further expands the open world storytelling known from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. There will be 3 games in this saga and we aim to deliver them over a 6-year period starting from the release of Polaris. This is a bold statement as we are talking about three large-scale productions, but we mean it and we have a plan on how to achieve it. Both the second and third installments, in terms of technology, will benefit from the foundation laid during the development of Polaris. In this way, we aim to smooth the development process while remaining creatively ambitious.

Project Canis Majoris

The next project codenamed Canis Majoris will be another full-fledged The Witcher production. It will be created by the external studio Michal just talked about, led by experienced developers who have worked on previous The Witcher games. Technology-wise, we plan to use Unreal Engine 5 and the toolset we created for Polaris.

Project Orion

Another project we want to focus on is Orion, again this is a codename, the next Cyberpunk game that will fully unleash the potential this universe has to offer. Our ambitious plans will require a lot of work, dedication and further team growth.

Speaking of which, I have important news to share. We’re creating a new studio based in North America. Alongside The Molasses Flood, we’re setting up a team in Boston that together with our Vancouver-based team will form CD Projekt Red North America. This studio will be responsible for leading the development of Orion. This move will allow us to fully tap into the North American talent pool.

Project Hadar

I’m excited to announce that CD Projekt Red has begun creative exploration on a third, entirely different IP called Hadar.

We started thinking about it a few years ago. Early-stage conceptual work began in 2021 and, for the first time in our history, the IP was incubated entirely within CD Projekt Red. It’s important to understand that we’re not making a game yet. We are working on the foundations of this new setting.
