Bandai Namco Wants to Reboot Naruto Game with New Engine

Hotaka Sudo, 2nd assistant production manager of Bandai Namco’s 1st IP business division, was asked about what he would like to work on next after Naruto x Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections.

“We have a number of titles in the works and we have received requests from customers for them, so we want to renovate the current titles,” Sudo replied according to the translation engine DeepL. “I think the accumulation of all these requests will result in a number of titles that will be loved for many years.”

Sudo added, “At the same time, I want to come up with new titles that give a different feeling from previous titles. For Naruto, I’m not sure if it will be in a different game genre or use a different game engine, but I want to start planning from scratch.”

“The story of Naruto is over, but it would be great if we could reboot it. The Harry Potter series has experienced a resurgence in popularity after the original story and movies were completed, with the spin-off series Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and the hit game Hogwarts Legacy.”

Sudo noted, “”If we can expand the recognition of our IP through games, the copyright holders will be happy to have entrusted their important IP to us and we can work on the next movie with that track record. In the future, we want to create a situation where we are asked to do this and that, so that more and more people come to us.”
