ATLUS: Unicorn Overlord Not Releasing to PC Due to “Deal” with Vanillaware

ATLUS has confirmed that the main reason why Unicorn Overlord is not coming to PC is because they have a “deal” with Vanillaware.

This information was revealed by the producer at ATLUS, Akiyasu Yamamoto, during an interview with Destructoid. If you are interested in Vanillaware games, you can check out our other articles here.

ATLUS: Unicorn Overlord Not Releasing to PC Due to “Deal” with Vanillaware

Speaking with Destructoid, Akiyasu Yamamoto was asked about the reasons why ATLUS chose not to release Unicorn Overlord to platforms outside of consoles.

“As a publisher, we would like to bring it to PC users as well, but as per our agreement with Vanillaware, we are only releasing it on consoles,” Yamamoto said. “In other words, there are currently no plans to port it to PC.”

Vanillaware has never released their games on PC or Xbox, but that changed when Unicorn Overlord was announced with Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S versions.

It’s interesting to dig deeper to find the reasons why Vanillaware ruled out the PC as a platform, but at the end of the day the only ones who know those reasons are Vanillaware and its publisher, or in this case, ATLUS.

Unicorn Overlord will release on PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PS4, and Nintendo Switch on March 8, 2024. Pre-loads are already available for those who pre-order.
