Almost Half of CD PROJEKT RED is Developing The New Witcher

In PROJECT RED CD’s latest financial report, nearly 330 developers, or just under 50%, were developing Project Polaris as of October 31, 2023.

CD PROJEKT’s CEO, Adam Kiciński, stated that the company expects over 400 developers will be developing for Project Polaris by mid-2024.

The Project Polaris team has grown to 260 developers as of July 31, 2023, but the game’s development is picking up steam after Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is already available on PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG).

The report also shows that more than 25% of developers are listed as “in transfer” as they transition from Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.

CD PROJEKT RED previously said that many of the team members would be joining Project Polaris alongside the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel called “Project Orion” and other projects.

Project Orion is currently led by the expansion director of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty expansion director, Gabe Amatangelo.

Speaking with PC Gamer, Igor Sarzyński compared the growth between The Witcher and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings to their hopes for the Cyberpunk 2077 franchise.
