SR and SSR weapons can be upgraded six times, and each star has different passive effects.
SR and SSR weapons have their own character. Acquiring a weapon of such a grade will automatically unlock the Simulacra of that character.
Simulacra is a buff obtained by first obtaining a weapon and then donating a Gift for Simulacra Awakening. Gifts are first unlocked by giving enough gifts for 1200 friendships, then increased to 4000 friendships, and often get additional buffs.
As for the R weapon, there are still no characters using it.
