Speaking with Variety, Kojima Productions’ founder, Hideo Kojima, discussed the next steps in his career and revealed a more direct relationship with Hollywood.
Kojima detailed the future of Kojima Productions by dividing his plans into three phases:
Variety also inquired about the Death Stranding film, but Kojima didn’t divulge much. However, he confirmed he would not direct it himself, though he would “supervise the storyline and assist in making it.”
“Currently, films and games are two different branches, but soon, both will be very similar,” Kojima said. “So, it’s not about making a video game out of Nope or asking Jordan [Peele] to adapt Death Stranding into a film. It’s about creating something new together.”
On the other hand, Kojima revealed something interesting: “There are several Death Stranding adaptation projects currently in progress, but there is a different story I’ve written aimed at a film. However, I don’t have time to direct it, so I won’t do it. It’s like a test for the third phase.”
