Nintendo and Illumination Announce New Animated Movie from the World of Super Mario Bros.

Nintendo and Illumination recently announced a new animated film as a follow-up to The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

The film will premiere on April 3, 2026 in the United States and many additional markets globally, with select territories being released throughout April.

In addition, the movie will be produced by Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and Nintendo representative director Shigeru Miyamoto; directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic; and written by Matthew Fogel.

The film will be co-financed by Universal Pictures and Nintendo, and distributed theatrically worldwide by Universal Pictures.
