The voice of Max Payne, James McCaffrey, has passed away at the age of 65.

James McCaffrey Passes Away
Actor Kevin Dillon has posted a message on Instagram: “RIP James McCaffrey, we are lucky to have known you. My dear friend, you will be missed.”
TMZ also reported that James McCaffrey had indeed passed away, following confirmation from his representative who said that he had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma and passed away on Sunday.
James McCaffrey voiced Max Payne for all three games in the Max Payne franchise. McCaffrey also played the director of the Federal Bureau of Control, Zachariah Trench, in Control. More recently, McCaffrey voiced Alex Casey in Alan Wake 2, a character whose physical appearance was played by Sam Lake.
In addition to his role in the Remedy Entertainment game, McCaffrey also played Edward Carnby in Alone in the Dark Reboot.

“I am sorry to hear the sad news of James McCaffrey’s passing. We worked together for over 25 years. James was a good man and a good friend. He was an important part of the Remedy family. He was a brilliant actor. No one could have done what he did better than him.
“James was Max Payne, Thomas Zane, Zachariah Trench, and finally Alex Casey. I had the honor of sharing the role of Max Payne and the role of Casey with him. He was so much fun to work with. I will cherish his memory and I miss him. My deepest condolences to his family. Rest in peace, Jim.”
