Akira Toriyama Passes Away at the Age of 68
The creator of Dragon Ball, Akira Toriyama, has passed away at the age of 68 on March 1, 2024 due to acute subdural hematoma. Toriyama also created Dr. Slump and SAND LAND, and handled the character designs of Chrono Trigger, Blue Dragon, and the Dragon Quest franchise.

Dear friends and partners,
It is with great sadness that we announce that Manga creator Akira Toriyama passed away on March 1 due to acute subdural hematoma. He passed away at the age of 68.
We regret that he still has several works in progress that he is passionately working on. In addition, there are still many things he wants to accomplish.
However, he has left behind many manga titles and artworks for this world, Thanks to the support of so many people around the world, he has been able to continue his creative activities for over 45 years. We hope that Akira Toriyama’s unique world of creation will continue to be loved by everyone for a long time to come.
We pass on this sad news to you, with gratitude for your kindness during his lifetime.
The funeral service was held with his family and a few relatives, Following his wishes for peace of mind, we kindly inform you that we will not be accepting flowers, condolence gifts, visits, offerings, and so on. In addition, we also ask that you refrain from conducting interviews with her family.
